The article generalizes the experience of teaching Japanese language in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Japanese is studied as a major language at the Chair of Oriental Languages of The Institute of Modern Languages and Regional Studies of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov. The author considers the situation with the study of Japanese language in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the peculiarities of teaching it in the University that affect the learning process.
