In modern conditions, an important factor in the effective functioning of the national econ-omy is the use of renewable energy sources, which leads to a reduction in CO2 emissions (decar-bonization). The proposed article attempts international comparisons of the world's leading econo-mies on the main indicators reflecting the process of decarbonization: CO2 emissions per unit of GDP PPP, per capita, carbon intensity of energy consumption, the size of the carbon footprint and biological potential per capita. A comparison of various energy sources is also made based on the above costs (LSOE). In conclusion, the article defines the place of Russia in these processes
This article presents the key trends in energy development driven by a combination of modern factors: the climate agenda, digitalization, and the changing role of the end consumer. It lists quantitative characteristics of hydrogen production and the presence of nuclear power plants worldwide and in Russia. It also presents development trends for nuclear energy based on safe technologies. The importance of digitalization in the energy sector and digital twins of energy facilities is highlighted.
