The article examines the punctuation representation of isolated conjunctive attributes expressed by adjectives and adjectival phrases in educational linguistic literature. Analysis revealed that theoretical information on these attributes is virtually nonexistent (at least, we were unable to find any, even in specialized literature). Traditional isolated adjective attributes and isolated conjunctive attributes are generally not distinguished due to the similarity of their syntactic functions and forms of expression and are therefore considered together. As a result, the punctuation of isolated conjunctive attributes appears ambiguous and, in some cases, contradictory. Isolated conjunctive attributes are represented by three punctuation marks: a comma, a final dash, and a medial dash, which distinguishes them from both sides of a sentence. Particular attention is given to the dash as a highly expressive punctuation mark, which, in our opinion, serves as a punctuation marker for isolated adjectives. For this reason, it is proposed to use the dash as a criterion for distinguishing between the two types of isolated adjectives. The comma is used in both types of isolation, but does not hinder their differentiation, as isolated adjectives possess special grammatical indicators that emphasize their adjectival nature.
