The article is devoted to the problem of collecting digital traces from social networks and messengers. Two main groups are identified: technical and forensic, which require special knowledge for data analysis, and international legal, which is related to the lack of a unified convention on cybercrime. Examples are given to show that this hinders the investigation of crimes.
