The article is devoted to the analysis of the legal mechanism for compensation for damage to such a component of the environment as land, caused as a result of its deterioration. It evaluates the regulatory framework, judicial practice and problems related to the effectiveness of compensation for damage caused by violations of land legislation. It is concluded that there is a need for further improvement of legislation and unification of approaches to determining the object and the amount of harm.
