The article is devoted to a number of scientifically significant aspects of the content of the concept of legal freedom. The understanding of legal freedom in the libertarian-legal concept of legal understanding and post-classical theories of law is compared. Due to socio-cultural determinacy, the emphasis in understanding legal freedom should be shifted towards its mutual recognition within the framework of legal communication and dialogue. Criteria of an anthropological nature in relation to legal freedom are too abstract and should take into account civilizational specifics.
