In the era of globalization, English has become a universal means of international communication, which has led to the emergence of its numerous localized versions. One of the most interesting examples is «Chinglish» – the Chinese adaptation of the English language. The article examines the historical background of the emergence of English in China, the features of Chinese pidgin, its transformation into «Chinglish», as well as its modern use and the attitude of linguists towards it. The issue of the cultural value of such language hybrids and their role in the global linguistic landscape is raised.
