The article deals with the history of composing the “Unfinished Sonata” for viola and piano by M. I. Glinka, the characteristic features of the composer’s musical style. The author studies the artistic sides of the composition in the context of Russian chamber-ensemble art formation and development. It gives us an idea of the ways of this genre foundations forming.
