This study touches upon and explores one of the most difficult to understand novels by Viktor Olegovich Pelevin, Empire V. The purpose of the study was to understand how Viktor Olegovich Pelevin sees the society of Russia in the noughties through the prism of many unrelated symbols. The methods that were used for research are reading, analysis. The result of the research is the interpretation of the novel through the explanation of the symbols presented in the text.

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of the elite in V.O. Pelevin's novel Empire V. In the course of the analysis, the images of Chaldea and vampires at the Great Fall are considered as indicators of symbolism. Initiation and the fall are revealed in the novel by the example of the Great Mouse. The article analyzes some ambiguous episodes of the novel.
