Peer teaching as a strategy of collaborative learning was introduced into EFL classrooms several decades ago, proving to be a useful tool in not only improving students’ language skills but also enhancing their soft skills. This article reflects on a peer teaching-based EFL lesson conducted with second-year students majoring in Translation Studies at Petrozavodsk State University. It critically examines the advantages and challenges associated with the implementation of peer teaching activities, from both instructor and student perspectives. Additionally, the article offers strategies for mitigating the observed challenges.
