The article examines the concepts of functional literacy, reading literacy and functional reading. The stages of working with the text are listed, when developing functional reading skills in students in foreign language lessons. In addition, a number of techniques and methods are given that can be used in foreign language lessons to form and develop reading literacy.
In this article the author considers excursion lessons as one of the effective forms of teaching foreign languages. It allows students to immerse themselves in the language environment, actively participate in speech situations and at the same time get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the country of the studied language. During the excursion, students develop all types of speech activities: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This contributes to a deeper understanding of the language and its structure. Excursion lessons make the process of learning a foreign language exciting and practice-oriented. They create a comfortable atmosphere for communication, exchange of opinions and contribute to the formation of confidence in using the language in real life situations. The author substantiates his position by describing the various advantages and disadvantages that this form of learning provides, and also refers to pedagogical traditions, confirming that this approach has been considered and applied by scholars as an effective method for centuries.
The article deals with the problem of designing the course «Foreign Language (Russian)» at a military aviation university. The semantic content is proposed as a starting point for learning, and the goal is to develop the ability to express these semantic relations using all available language tools. Approaches to the formation of Russian speech among foreign military personnel at the initial stage of training are analyzed. The main attention is paid to the integrated use of topics, grammatical forms, syntactic constructions and speech skills to create a solid language base. The importance of including the material of the initial stage in the program of basic (advanced) training is emphasized, since it represents the most complex objects of assimilation and requires constant repetition and consolidation throughout the entire period of language learning.
