The article analyzes the history of the development of fingerprinting as a method of identifying a person during its formation based on foreign and domestic practice. The author makes a conclusion about nonlinearity of forensic expert methods development. The current condition and prospects of forensic fingerprint examination development in Russia are discussed in the work.
The article examines the typology of correctional institutions for serving persons in respect of whom a sentence of imprisonment has been imposed. The author characterizes the criteria for determining those sentenced to a particular correctional institution, briefly reflects the features of placing convicts in various types of correctional institutions, and notes the importance of distinguishing correctional institutions in the context of achieving the goals of criminal punishment.
This article examines the challenging aspects of investigating serial sexual murders in contemporary Russian law enforcement practice. It examines the legal classification of these crimes, the difficulties in identifying seriality, and the specific aspects of evidentiary proceedings. The authors identify key organizational and methodological shortcomings that hinder effective investigations, including the lack of regulatory criteria for seriality, insufficient coordination between agencies, and limited preliminary investigation timelines. Particular attention is paid to modern forensic capabilities, including genomic registration, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and complex forensic examinations.
This article analyzes the legal issues arising from the use of deepfake technology for fraudulent purposes. The authors examine the phenomenon of deepfakes as a new form of sociotechnical engineering, which creates difficulties in classifying and proving crimes. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between Articles 159 and 159.6 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, issues of digital evidence examination, civil protection of intangible assets, and the need to improve legislative regulation. Measures are proposed for developing specialized criminal law provisions, establishing procedural standards, enhancing the technical competence of law enforcement agencies, and implementing mechanisms for operational interaction with digital platforms.
